ACTIVISTA THE GAMBIA TO IMPLEMENT PROJECT ON STRENGTHENING CITIZENS’ INCLUSION IN GOVERNANCE

We are glad to announce our new project with the National Endowment for Democracy. The project, “Strengthening Citizens’ Inclusion in Governance”, is aimed at bridging the gap between the electorates and their National Assembly representatives through policy dialogues. The objective is to facilitate direct, face-to-face conversations on development policies and other legislative matters that significantly impact the lives and livelihoods of the constituents. This initiative will propose that National Assembly members consult their constituents on critical issues such as the annual budget, legislative changes such as the repeal of the anti-Female Genital Mutilation law, and other significant policy decisions. The policy dialogues will also focus on the youth policy and its relation to the National Development Plan (NDP), look at the government’s white paper on the implementation of the Truth Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC)’ recommendations, and clarify the role of the National Assembly in bringing the government to task on such issues.
The policy dialogues will be conducted in all the constituencies in The Gambia. We look forward to your contributions.
