Are you interested in working with a civil society organisation that promotes the rights of youth and women? Activista The Gambia is looking for a Programmes Manager. Program Manager Job Role: To plan, develop and manage a Human Right Based Approach program that meets the strategic goals and objectives of the Activista youth Network.

Reports to: National Coordinator on primary tasks and key results areas and serve as Principal Deputy to the National Coordinator:

  1.  Initiate and develop program activities to address strategic needs of the Network
  2.  Coordinate and monitor program implementation to ensure attainment of planned results 
  3. Providing technical support to improve the performance of the staff in the prevention and management of volunteers, affiliates and resource mobilization
  4. Developing and maintaining networks with partner agencies for resource sharing and saving, 
  5. Developing short-term plans that address the strategic plan objectives of Activista, preparing program and activity reports for the Network.
  6.  Coordinating the implementation of the Strategic Plan and Plan of Action of Activista The Gambia.
  7.  Plan and coordinate training workshops and programs related to youth’s rights promotion, campaigning and human rights. 
  8. Preparing reports (activity, quarterly and annual reports, etc.) and working papers as required by donors.
  9. Coordinate fundraising/ resource mobilization programmes through proposal and concept note development with other staff and actively searching for donors willing to partner with Activista projects and programs both at the regional and national levels.
  10. Support entrepreneurship development, creativity and innovation for the regional structures to support local credible alternative income generation activities of the regional Congresses, Committees, and Members to promote socio-economic independence of communities and the agency of people living in poverty to take charge of their own development destiny.     
  11. Facilitating and promoting networking and collaboration between and amongst the Member Organizations of Activista and other like-minded organizations.
  12. Support national Coordinator in strengthening governance, accountability, and inclusion of the regional Congresses, Committees, and Members.   
  13. Spearheading or involving in research activities and field trips as required by the Network. 
  14. Establishing a monitoring and evaluation system for the work of the Network in consultation with the National Coordinator and the Board Chair. 
  15. Work with the Finance and Admin team on issues relating to budgets. 
  16. Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the National Coordinator.
  17. To act for the National Coordinator in his/her absence

Minimum academic qualifications: A Degree or Post Graduate Diploma or equivalent qualification or higher qualification in any of the following fields: Development Study, Management, and other   Social Science field of study. Additional qualification, must be a registered members of Activista The Gambia.

Competencies required: Ability to: develop project proposals,  identifying donors and marketing proposals, Preparing activity plans and budgets, Initiating needs assessment/operational research, Write reports and give timely feedback,  Developing supervisory tools and training staff to use them, Develop and update partner profiles, negotiating, lobbying and communicating in a timely manner to National Coordinator,  Disseminating reports to stakeholders,  Utilizing report results for planning and decision making.

Experience: organising and mobilising youths: Not less than three years.
