ACTIVISTA TO CONDUCT TRAINING FOR YOUTH AND WOMEN POLITICIANS

ACTIVISTA will be conducting trainings for the Youth Branch of the Inter-Party Committee, YoBIPC in LRR, CRR and URR. We will be joined by the National Council for Civic Education and the Inter-Party Committee to implement this activity, funded by UND-The Gambia through the Peace Building Fund.

While we bring you daily updates through our social media pages, we are equally glad to inform you that Youth participation and inclusion in decision-making processes has been a key part in Activista’s intervention. Thus, we championed the Not Too Young To Run Campaign, which focused on enabling young people to contest for public positions, especially during the parliamentary elections. We have equally facilitated the establishment of the regional YoBIPC branches in all the regions in The Gambia, including Banjul and the Kanifing Municipalities.

The upcoming training will focus on strengthening women’s political participation and leadership, through reformed legislations. 50 young people will be trained on:

  • Good governance, Human Rights and Democracy
  • Women Political Participation; existing legislations policies, challenges and way forward.
  • Understanding Ethical Leadership: Focus on women political leadership
  • Role of citizens in peace building during elections
  • Community engagement strategies: campaign and advocacy
  • Social Mobilization
